Free Blog Advertising
By Shane Woods
Any individual who is bent on making money out of making blogs should consider all the possible options on advertising and promotion. There many ways of driving traffic (especially the target market) to your site and one must maximize all that these methods are able to offer. It is always easy to begin with the simplest methods-and these are the ones that are usually free.

For your blog to be noticed, you could do the most obvious and common methods such as joining social networks. Social networking is a bit broad, though, and many members do not join to these networks to buy products, they usually join to make friends, keep friends and look for old ones. If you have cash to burn, the easiest and most effective way is to advertise on TV or radio stations, newspapers, magazines, or even online. For the majority of the online population, they just have to resort to the free offers.
Once you sign up for a free advertising for your blog, expect that you would be dealing with your competitors. Do not be alarmed because this does not mean that you will work side-by-side with your business opponents. This is termed as reciprocal advertising where your blog is submitted to a certain service then your blog is advertised to other users of the same service.
When you run ads for your business counterparts, they do the exact same thing for you. This is actually a very effective method of advertising as the user is lead to a number of sites with the same topics. The great thing here is, it is very unlikely for a visitor to let go of your site once another site is found (just fill your blogs with contents that would make the users hold on).
RSS feeds are compared among the many subscribers and this results into the service attempting to display your Web site to links on blogs that are in your field. Since it’s for free, it is often very easy to sign up. Upon registration, a code is given for you to embed on your own site.
The most common advantages to free blog advertising include: being able to post unlimited ads (and these ads will never expire); the chance to have your blog displayed in many different languages; you can edit or delete the ads that you have posted anytime; the ads can be saved at a certain category; you would have a live blog as soon as you post it; and tags can be posted.
There are also some sites who would advertise for free for only a few days (some as much as 60 days). This often gives the user ample time to consider whether or not he would want to continue with the service. 60 days is often enough to establish a base clientele.
The lone disadvantage to making use of free blog advertising is that there are often no available data or analytics that would aid you in summing up how you’ve done with your online business so far. There is no available information on who goes to your site (which is very important because you should take note of who are the ones that are interested on your topics); also, which sites do your visitors go to after they visit your site? These are all important information that should not be overlooked.
It’s up to you to weigh out the advantages against the disadvantage. But remember, free blog advertising is ‘free’ so why not take advantage of it?
