You Need to Have A Blog to Be a True Professional Salesperson

In our company, we get lots of hits and inquiries on our website. We send a thank you note to each inquiry and then send the lead to our outside salesperson to follow-up. That salesperson has to call on the phone, send an email, or physically go see the prospect. Each of our professional salespersons perform a great job of follow-up.

However, not every inquiry is from someone who is ready to buy today. Many are gathering information and trying to coordinate specifications into their planning. And so, it is critical to have a good way to keep in touch with these prospects and customers.
I proposed that we put up a blog on our website which can be accessed from our website where we could talk about new items from our suppliers and new programs that we have developed to help our customers. That way customers and prospects who are getting close to purchasing can be kept up-to-date with all that is new in our industry. Then the next step is to have each salesperson have a blog and have a way to easily communicate new ideas directly to their own customer base.
In today’s Internet pervasive world, every professional salesperson should have a blog that a client could access to learn new information and keep in touch with new ideas from their sales resources. Most of us use email as a vehicle to communicate on the web. However, with a blog you will not need to learn autoresponders and all the other email marketing techniques. It is not hard to learn how to build a blog. In fact, there are many software programs and many resources to help build a blog. Just go to Google, Yahoo or MSN and enter the word blog and you will find all you need.
Take the action today to build your own personal blog so that you become that valuable resource to your clients that will separate you from the competitors.
