Dogs are more complex than most people give them credit for. Pups generally need affection, interaction, good nutrition, and a healthy grooming regimen—all of which improve their quality of life.
Fight Boredom with Interactive Playtime, Outdoors or Indoors
Like kids, pups need interactive time to bond and learn with you, either indoors or outdoors. Teach them how to play fetch or chase and give your dog plenty of love and affection to keep their mind healthy and their moods happy. Interactive pups are generally better behaved. Bored canines often resort to bad behavior to get attention.
Don’t Be in a Hurry—Stop and Literally Smell the Roses
Some people rush through taking their pups for walks because they want to do other things; however, your dog is a living and breathing creature that likes nature as much, if not more, than you do. Stop amongst the flowers and let your pup sniff around. Take them through a park for optimum nature sight-seeing and bonding time. Or, spend some time walking around and playing in the backyard with your canine companion.
Feed Your Pup with Nutrition in Mind
Just like humans and other animals, dogs need nutritious foods that nourish their minds and bodies. Every dog is a bit different in their nutrients needs, but a veterinarian can give you a basic idea of what your pup needs for optimal health. Always feed your pup with their nutrition and good health in mind. The right food can make a big difference in their activity levels and longevity, so strive to pack their meals with plenty of protein, healthy fats, and complex carbs.
Note: For pups with special nutritional needs, your vet should have pharmacy management system documentation to properly call up whatever meds your canine requires at every visit. It shouldn’t require the same tests and exams every check-up.
Keep Your Doggo Clean, Trimmed, and Generally Well-Groomed
Do you feel better after a shower with your favorite shampoo and body wash? Do you feel better after a haircut and manicure? Pups feel the same. There’s something freeing about being clean and well-groomed, so bathe, trim, and brush your canine companion regularly. Different breeds of dogs have different grooming needs, so do your research into your pup’s breed before implementing a grooming regimen.
