When your car is due for a Major Service, it should include all the items covered in the Safety Service checklist plus the following: a check of the engine management system, a diagnostic scan and fault code analysis, non-platinum spark plugs, replacement of air filter and replacement of external fuel filter.
Be sure that your mechanic gives you a written estimate before commencing any work on your car. You should not be charged for travel time, only labour time. Also make sure that your mechanic is fully trained to the highest standards of mechanical knowledge and is also trained to back this up with great customer service.
